The purpose of this new program area is to provide access to resources, services, experiences, and amenities that are often limited or lacking for those who live in distressed, neglected, and marginalized communities. Emphasis will be placed on urban neighborhoods that are impacted by systemic inequities. The overarching goal is to create stronger, wealthier, healthier, and more resilient communities.

Grantmaking will be concentrated in the areas of housing, economic mobility, health, education, and transit. Funding will also support efforts to increase understanding and awareness about the causes and manifestations of systemic racism and to address its detrimental consequences.

The foundation will collaborate with a broad range of partners to generate community-based priorities, goals, and solutions that are effective, replicable, and improve quality of life and place.
