How to Apply

Strategic Partnerships:

Program staff works closely with Lyndhurst Foundation trustees to develop grant cycle priorities.  Organizations that best fit the Foundation's priorities will be invited to submit grant proposals.  The Trustees will review these proposals at quarterly board meetings.

Other Projects:

Unsolicited requests will be reviewed twice a year, usually in May and November.  The total pool of funds available for all unsolicited requests is $500,000 per year.  During 2010, deadlines to submit a proposal are by the close of the business day on April 1st and September 30th. Proposals received after the deadlines will not be considered.

Applicants are encouraged to call the office for questions regarding eligibility.  Proposals are accepted by email or regular post; if submitting proposal electronically please send to Karen Rudolph krudolph@lyndhurstfoundation.org.

Requests should be limited to three pages and include:

  • A description of the sponsoring organization
  • A detailed description of the proposed project that contains: a statement of need, project goals and/or outcomes, a project timeline and evaluation measures

Supporting documents should include:

  • A list of the board of directors and staff
  • The organization's tax-exempt ruling from the Internal Revenue Service
  • Annual budget from last year (both income and expenditures)
  • Current year operating budget vs. actual profit/loss statement
  • An estimated project budget with line items
